How the Hell did you forget about that mate!

Lovely to see one with both sides. It doesn't seem to have the holes in the bottom to tie through. Unless they have been lost through the damage.

Have seen a similar one with enamelled lid that when opened contained a quarter stater. I think its inthe Celtic and Roman Artefacts book.

Lovely find

I think as you say the holes were where the big area is missing, they would have given the corrosion a head start. You know what I'm like with Roman stuff, I was more interested in the Soldino Embarrassed

What a find Geoff, great.  Tell you what, if you're not interested in the Roman, you can send them over here. Wink

You would only feel empty and be full of self loathing if you got them that way Val Grin
You should see the bag full of Roman goodies I've just put together for a local primary school Roll Eyes

Nice finds geoff.

The last one you posted is a medieval mirror case rather than a Roman seal box. See here:

Wow! thanks Peter, that really works for me as the area of the field that it was found in hasn't produced any Roman material but has medieval, so that gets rid of a few why's? and how's?.
