Out for an hour today on my only bit of detectable land a small pasture field. This field has produced some nice stuff in the past but has been very, very quiet recently, so I wasn't expecting to turn up anything much and was indeed just getting the odd bit of scrap metal then I got a loud clear signal, convinced it was going to be a Viccy penny Imagine my joy when this beauty popped up!!!! 12.5 grams of solid gold, it bears a striking resemblance to one I found a couple of years ago, but that was only a single 'strand' which turned out to be a Roman Earring, this however looks like a ring as it's been fused at the ends.
Can't stop looking at it  , have put it on UKDFD and am just waiting for validation, but I'm sure its similar to the other one, maybe even made by the same person.
To think I was seriously thinking of selling the old T2 a couple of weeks ago, needless to say it's won a reprieve

So, turns out it's an Anglo Saxon ring 10th - 11th century, of a type associated with the Vikings and possibly of Scandinavian manufacture
