That's a fantastic find - at least you won't be wearing out any shoe leather now because you must be floating on cloud 9!

Out for an hour today on my only bit of detectable land a small pasture field. This field has produced some nice stuff in the past but has been very, very quiet recently, so I wasn't expecting to turn up anything much and was indeed just getting the odd bit of scrap metal then I got a loud clear signal, convinced it was going to be a Viccy penny Imagine my joy when this beauty popped up!!!! 12.5 grams of solid gold, it bears a striking resemblance to one I found a couple of years ago, but that was only a single 'strand' which turned out to be a Roman Earring, this however looks like a ring as it's been fused at the ends.
Can't stop looking at it  Grin, have put it on UKDFD and am just waiting for validation, but I'm sure its similar to the other one, maybe even made by the same person.
To think I was seriously thinking of selling the old T2 a couple of weeks ago, needless to say it's won a reprieve Wink
What can I say, Top marks there herbie Wink Wink

So, turns out it's an Anglo Saxon ring 10th - 11th century, of a type associated with the Vikings and possibly of Scandinavian manufacture Smiley
