Actually I don't know what to choose as my best as each is very special to me, I suppose it would have to be the whistle since that is pretty unique and a very lucky find, found on pasture so not exactly a straight off eyes only find if that makes sense, that goes for the black gun flint too, that was found on pasture too and found in the hole by accident. The lovely worked scraper was on DW Rally (thanks guys), won't forget that day either!

I've got one exactly the same, found with a detector. Have you any idea what it's off.

I can see what you mean Paul but mine seems a bit small for that and is moulded not pressed so I guess it's quite old.

It is very interesting seeing your find apparently complete. Quite some years ago there was an ongoing saga in the Searcher about these with questions as to date, age and purpose etc. None of the ones featured had the attachment underneath. In the end it was suggested that they may have been attached to a safe or an item of machinery.I have one myself and have seen about three or four identical. Mine had a hole at the base to allow it to be fixed to something. It was also said that they could be bought in Ironmongers and attached to items of your own choice. Is your item all one piece? If I can find mine I will post it up.

Is the end of the screw pointed as in woodscrew, or flat as in metal thread ?

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy...my best eyes only....was 20 years ago..went to salou on the coach...chris martin tours...my machine packed up half way through week...so sat on beach by the water sulking...when looking down in the water 2 feet from edge..picked up this 18ct ring that had just rolled in on the waves..took it along to celticspikey to show him...he was so happy for me...
