Whilst we were having lunch at the Cardiff Scan Club rally yesterday, a horse that was passing through the car park where we sat shied and was only brought under control with difficulty by the rider. She said that the horse could 'Feel the vibrations from the metal detectors' and asked everyone to turn them off so she could get past.

I've never heard of this before, have any of you? I've detected near plenty of horses in my time and if anything they've been attracted to me rather than been repelled (I have this effect on horses and women  Grin ).

I recorded part of the incident on the video I shot of the rally which I shall be uploading onto the site tonight, so look out for it.

Load of rubbish Geoff, I thinks shes wrong there.

My first Farm site I ever got permission on is a horse stables and they would be constantly standing next to me or nudging my arm for treats whilst I was detecting. Never bothered any of them - there were at least 20 or so.

I would agree that if anything it attracts them

Looking forward to seeing the video

Cheers
Neil

Animals hearing is much more sensitive than ours,  it was proberbly picking up the sound waves especially if there were a few switched on.

Just to confirm general opinion - I regularly detect in a field with horses and never had a problem with any of them getting upset. Problem is normally keeping them out of the way!
