I've just seen this posted on another forum.

I didn't know Charles, but he was very active on here when the forum started:

I've just found out Charlie Cater has recently passed away.
He was the founder member of the Wrexham Metal Detecting Club and for decades before the Wrexham Club,he was a member of the Mold Historical Search Society.
My thoughts go out to Marie his wife and family.
A true gentleman.

Very sad news.

RIP Charles

I never met Charles but had quite a few discussions on here. He was one of the original moderators on here and a lovely bloke to deal with.

He had his own web page, I will try to hunt it out for everyone.

Rip Charles.

Such sad news. I first met Charles via the Intnational Metal Detecting site he ran about three years before DW was formed. He seemed a natural choice to Moderate on here and was a wealth of knowledge and all round gentleman.

I have contacted Pierre who now runs Charles original forum to let him know.

Rest In Peace Charles.

In Deepest Sympathy

I posted the above on the Detectorist forum.

I first met Charlie Cater in 1992 as a member of the Mold Club, between the knowledge with the will to share made him an assett of any club.
In the late 90's myself,Charlie,Boozer,Rob Jones left the Mold Club and started a club in our own town - Wrexham.

RIP Charlie.

Having just found out about the passing of my good friend  Charles  Cater,   i shall visit his   widow  as soon as i can.   i left   the area to reside in Scotland, and as you do, you tend to lose touch.  it came as a shock to me  even though i know charles had been bravely fighting  his illness for some time.  he was a real fighter, and i am very proud to count him amongst my  friends.  he will be very much missed.
