Hi

Can anyone tell me if they know of any places in Llandudno or rhyl that you can go metal detecting rather than on the beach as I dont seem to be having any luck on the beaches. i know there are issues on private land and you have to ask but i just wondered if anyone knew of any land that isnt privatised that I could go to?

thanks

Formally, Welcome to DW Citygirl22.
Unfortunately there is very, very little common land left in the U.K. All land is owned by someone, Farmer, Council, Private, Estates etc.
There are a few who live up that way who just might volunteer to let you tag along. Other than that I'm afraid you'll have to get out and knock a few doors. I always find it a hateful task but mostly successful.
I think most land owners are more  open minded when it comes to a 'lady' asking.

Best of luck.

Not a problem. Any queries or problems you have, just ask. There's always someone to help.

Must warn you though, you need a good sense of humour to cope with some of the 'cheeky' ones. You'll get used to them in time  Roll Eyes

You could always get in touch with Garrettace150  and see if you can tie up. He's in the same boat as you. See his post

Hi CityGirl, welcome to the wonderful world of "were can I go detecting", as Val has rightly pointed out, Garrettace150 "WAS" in the same boat as your good self until today, fortunately he has found other like minded people as himself and been out today and had a grand old time tecting on our new permissions and has had some lovely finds, I'm sure we can fit you in somewhere in the very near future.

There is an old track near by that used to be the rail track for the miners. Unbelievably just the track was purchased by a Farmer who owns land adjacent and a Lady who owns holiday cottages. Now, you might ask, who in their right mind would sell or buy a strip of land that's no good for anything, that is already a public right of way.
It is now still owned by these two individuals but has become part of the Pembrokeshire Way.  It was supposed to be a multi purpose track from Wisemans Bridge through to St.Ishells being for walkers, bikers and horse riders.
Unfortunately the two owners in question wouldn't give permission for it to be anything other than a walkers track. So there you have an example of what I said. All land is owned by someone. A lot of them miserable gits.

Early days yet but mum is looking to buy 5 acres of land for her sheep to graze on. Should it happen all are welcome to have a mooch subject to usual T&C. I've got everything crossed  Grin

This being my only chance to search some good land, most land owners around here really need fish with their chip, must be something in the water  Roll Eyes

Your rite Val they are more open minded with the Ladies asking, Wink that is why I always shave me legs and moustache well, before I dress up in my short skirt and slinky top, Tongue I get permission a lot this way but they do insist on taking me out for a meal once a month (no strings attached) of course, but there again Wiltshire is a strange place Kiss Roll Eyes Kiss Roll Eyes
