I was recommended a chap called Jon Mann who buys coins and will also sell them on your behalf.

I sold quite a few outright to him and those that he was not interested in, he catalogued and put into a London Auction House on my behalf, for a 10% commission. This is a lot less than E Bay and other auction places! Not to mention less hassle!!!! Smiley

His commission will depend on the value of the coin/s but he will be very competitive.

If you've a coin or collection to sell, I'd recommend giving him and e-mail in the first instance to get his advice....

jon.mann22@gmail.com

He also dabbles a bit in detecting and is very friendly.

Or if you want cash in your hand and you're in Abergavenny on a Tuesday, Pop into the indoor
market and see my mate LLoyd Bennett, google COINS OF BRITAIN for his website

ALL auctions take a cut, usually 15%.

I just sold a couple of hundred coins on E Bay and with the listing fee and final valuation fee (15%) and the hassle of taking photos/listing/posting them, I can tell you it's a right pain!

Having someone do all the work for you and take less cut has got to be considered.

I have heard  the buyer/seller @ Abergavenny market is reputable. Again, that's another option. I remember seeing his stall and he had a basket of lovely looking silver Roman Denarius coins in it selling at £20 each!!!!  Smiley   I've sold modernish coins for more...........just shows how weird coins are valued.

£20 each.  I think I'd better go and buy one.  Seems to me that's the ONLY way I'll ever have one.  Cry

I'm beginning to think the  Archie's were right,  the Romans just didn't come down my end of the Country.

What Huh Huh
Tenbius Pembroocus was a famous Roman holiday destination! Any time after the Ides of May you would see Roman families on the beach with their children, building sand hill forts, sometimes you could hardly see the sand for togas. Wink

RJM  That might be the case these days. Come to think about it I could pick up a bit of cash in the 'off season' months in my favourite beach car park.
Did have a £10  'dog walkers'  pass but now it's been dragged into the 21st cent it's crazy money. If you come in a camper it's £10 per day. Only 2 others rates  £1  for one hour or £4 for the day.

Geoff, Tenby didn't get to be popular till the turn of the 1900's but occasionally something older gets washed up. (no rude comments please)  Roll Eyes

Nobby, did you read what Geoff said about the Romans ? That's who we were discussing.  They never heard of Tenby.
