 thanks both digga your tip worked the oil lamp base was id by welsh museum , its very heavy would have had oil and wick obviously,  regards john

hi mole the  roman oil lamp was over 20 inches very faint signal no2 is henry v111 groat found in cowbridge, if youv e driven from bridgend coming in to the dual carridgeway to cardiff in cowbridge three years ago you would have been within twenty foot of it inside the hedge regards john

find 4 roman iron age possibly votive knife handle currently in welsh museum there not sure yet guess the name of the  unique find regards john
