Well i took the plunge today after making a few quid on a bike sale and bought a ctx 3030 from Kevin at staffs metal detectors, really good guy and sorted me out a nice deal.

the detector cant of been used looking at it its immaculate. Really really well balanced i have to say and also so much more suited to me been 6ft3 tall. Reviews say its great, its looks great, nice to set up and hopefully it will perform great for me too!

hopefully tomorrow will tell!

only thing i need is some decent headphones as original ones were missing and he gave me a new pair of pro phones but not too keen on them.

It sure will be interesting. Especially to go over a stretch i know i have done meticulously with the whites v3i and see if it can weedle anything else out the strip.

can anyone reccomend some top notch headphones with a budget up to £150 max please that will work with the ctx?

i shall report my initial views and finding tomorrow after the dig.

WOW, what can I say, I absolutely love the ctx, amazing depth even in the dry hard baked soil but that did become a little tedious when digging depth for a piece of copper or lead about 4mm in size.

not a single false signal and the only iron dug was the couple of pieces I dug to confirm the signal. using the trace feature is extremely good too as a way to confirm something before digging. amazingly light felling due to the balance. my only gripe is headphones are plugged into a wireless module, which ok, im sure I will find a way around this but for a top end machine you would think they did like whites or xp.

cheers steve, was a good few hours out today. had the usual bits of copper and lead, some decorative copper plating, brass sheets, a couple of random shaped things one of which I doubt is but looks a bit like a fob seal matrix and a badge with the letters RFA.
