It was okay,, I will watch all the episodes. My only critism was that I felt that there was a bit too much messing about, it's nice to have a bit of humour but it seemed to take up too much time.

They should have followed their own advice with their Do`s and Donts.

Wear Gloves when detecting and certainly do NOT place a dirty Roman coin in the mouth for a wash off. Shocked Jerry.

PS I will be watching the following episodes.

the same as Mike really, I think that bloke with the hat was a bit
over the top with the megaphone, I would like
to have seen a bit more detecting and maybe they could have done
a section on the show about  different detectors. One thing that did suprise me
was that iron anvil. after discriminating out iron or abandoning deep digging iron,
it makes you wonder what we may have missed or left behind.

They had the chance to let Dave Phillips and Barrie Plasom, who you saw at the start to show them how to hoover up the Roman coins. Wink Smiley Jerry.

I think you've got to remember that the program isn't aimed at detectorists so we are probably not the best people to judge.
Gary was not as manic as I feared but Gordon was definitely dumbing down to allow input from the "Archaeologist" later (I can't believe Gordon couldn't remember what a Urbs Romana is called), Hoard Hunters is a limited company and the guys, who by the way also have their own video production company so are no strangers to the camera, are making the programs as a business to make money and good luck to them.
I personally don't think that (on one episode) it will have any effect on the views of detecting by the general public and the viewing figures will point to it's success or otherwise.

i have met Gary Brun and Gordon Heritage in person and they are great guys with a deep love oif this fantastic hobby.,.They have promoted the hobby with the minelab forum and videos..They probably have no control over the editing and have restricted time on site..But good luck to two great members of our hobby Smiley

Rob Hoard Hunters Ltd is run by Gary so I expect they had full control over editing but I from a public perspective I can't see anything wrong with it. A few Roman grots may be just another day for many of us but try remembering how it felt when you found your first....when I've shown them to passers by who have asked "have you found anything" by their reaction anyone would think they were the crown jewels, so it's probably exciting to joe bloggs  Wink
