After prising my aching joints out of bed this morning ... [my own fault, i shouldn't have played cricket yesterday!], i eventually caught up with techony and another colleague on our local fields. The sun was blazing down, the birds were in full song, and the smell of the rapeseed was everywhere.

The ground surface was quite dry and it was a day for taking ones time and not rushing anywhere. Anyway, as we made our way to our 2nd coffee stop, i was extremely fortunate to find a lovely Charles 2nd, 2nd issue half groat. After sharing the success with my 2 buddies, i turned my back only to see techony jumping around with a huge grin on his face! ... i'll let him tell you later what he found.

so enjoy the pics and drool!

You're on a roll me thinks Al. Some nice finds lately, well done that man.

I too dragged my aching bones out of bed this morning. Been catching up with the garden and painting the barn in between. By the time I'd walked the dogs I was cream crackered so I chickened out. Hats off to you for effort.

You must be talking about lucky Eddie. Don't know who the moneyer was, but I bet he'd had a skinful before he struck this one...

Some really nice finds there, well done. Is that a coin weight at the top, it looks like it could be. There are several similar on the Colchester site dated 1422-61.

Hi Val, yes it is. It's very thin compared to other coin weights that I have, has me thinking that it was probably for weighing silver quarter ECU's rather than the big gold one.

Nice find whatever. Better than the hammie in my opinion.(Might change my mind if/when I find one)  Gold or silver it would be the same date range that takes it back to Henry 6th.
I'll keep on wishing.
