Keeper of the Lights

« on: May 03, 2013, 09:51:39 PM »

I went out for two hours tonight , things started off very slow, only a
couple of signals which turned out to be cans and large bits of iron.
The first decent find was a penny then out popped the smallest
horseshoe i've ever seen 7 1/2 cm x 7cm. next was a lighter and a
small lead bung ? definitely not a musket ball Geoff. Then silence for the next
20 minutes until BEEP a lovely signal 10 inches down was this silver pot
full of silt [ the pasture is next to a river which often floods ]. unfortunately the lid was
nowhere to be found. The hallmark is M N bros. lion passant, U in shield leopards head.
dates to 1895-1896

Not unless the horse was a skinhead that wore horseshoes Grin Grin
Sir I think you have spoiled my evil plan about spreading the myth of
a tiny one legged  skinhead horse named Douglas who roamed the welsh countryside
looking for his lost hobnail shoe thousands of years ago and can still be heared
whinnying today on dark nights after lights out.
I really must start taking my medication Grin

Lovely piece of silver dryland.  I think it's more likely to be the top of a container though.

The horse shoe isn't that unusual. Have a look at the attached pici. How big do you think the ponies feet are.?  Well I can tell you, your shoe might be too big for it. Wink
