That's a cracking find - there were plenty of other really good finds that day as well I think (but that's the best I've seen so far).

Yes it was a very good dig I believe most people found something.

There was a little purse hoard of 8 hammereds pennies stuck together, lots of Roman coins and a few brooches including another two Saxon ones.

I still think my Saxon saucer brooch was the best find of the day though.  Grin

Rob its a Saxon saucer brooch 5th to 6th century

It is made of bronze chipped and carved 5 spirals decorated with a gold gilding, what is unusual is the centre boss you do not see many like this
