Hi all I've been sitting here over a month already recovering from a wrist op with no detecting.I've been thinking I wouldn't mind  trying something different  like recovering items from local  rivers and pools using a magnet  anyone got any idea's on what strength magnet i would need. Also any other info on subject cheers.

Do a search for 'magnets' Mark. This subject has been discussed a few times. Wink

sorry to be a killjoy but its a waste of time ,1000s have tried over the last 30 odd years and its futile.
pools and river have tons of organic rubbish buildup on the bottom.
and sediment gets washed in when it rains.
we tried 1 single and a dozen in line .
plus they lose some of their magnetism under water.
