Hello, I have found about £12 of modern currency but it is all very dirty and black, I would like to spend the money but it is difficult to see what the coins are let alone get anyone to accept them, any ideas on how to clean the so I can spend my loot? Thanks in advance.

Hi one way to get rid of it is to take it to a Morrisons or sainsbury store were they have a machine for coins, they work by weight not looks, and you get new money back less 1%

Try denture cleaner, like steredent e.t.c ,put them to soak overnight, and they should just need a quick wipe the next day.

I had the same problem, I put them in a pot with some vinegar and sone rock salt, left for around 20 mins, cleaned some but other a little weird, and the longer you leave the coppers they turn pink, small wire brush got best results for me but was a little time consuming with a lot of change lol

Ironic realy when you think about it.  I have to pay to park at my local beach, go off and have a  ferret, find a couple  quid and have to dump half of them  because the parking meter wont accept them. Probably fakes, crazy.

Saw them talking a out fake  British coins on the TV last week.  They reckon the experts are having a hard time sorting out the 2 pound coins now and i think they've given up on the 1 pound because there's so many.
