Nazi ring

This is a ring i found a couple of years ago on parkland at the foot of a old oak tree.It has been in the searcher mag but it is still a bit of a mystery ???The fronnt is made of silver and it has been welded to a bronze ring.I looked up flak 54 which turned out to be a german anti aircraft regiment.I still dont know what the actual silver frontage would have came off.Could it have been off the uniform maybe .What are your thoughts on this matter?

Thats a great find,  with the date on it too,   this is a Silver badge i found a couple of years ago in a field that the army were camped in during the war.

I think its a tradition for soldiers to pick up trophys War time

My Grand dad was in the 8th Army desert Rats
he picked up a copy of Mein Kampf  (My Struggle) Adolph Hitlers book.
Big swastika on the front.
Someone had translated a few pages into english it had a tiny spot of blood on one of the pages.

My ex wife had a huge collection of army cap badges she had an original cap badge of the 24th foot south wales borders (zulu) worth a few quid now i should imagine

I used to collect trench art

They are strange finds, not what you would expect to dig up in England.
I remember being told when I was a boy that troops coming back on boats and ships were warned that if they had any souvenirs (before reaching port) then now was the time to dispose of them.
Said that many guns and other souvenirs went over the side into the Atlantic, it wasn't worth the hassle if they were caught.

ohh  what a shame ,  all that stuff dumped into the atlantic hey.
don't know how mine got there, maybe brought back as a souvenir.  i wonder if he'd killed the owner, ?   i think the assay mark goes back to about 1943 or 45,  arrr iv'e just found it,  1938

Nice find you had there, I don't think it is a uniform or cap badge as the AA units had the picture of a AA gun on there badges, by the size of it and it being silver I would guess at it being an officers cufflink.

Thats the ring you showed me at Rooksbridge fella? What a stunner, did they have any prisoner of war camps around that area ? Just a thought.

Well rob it was found at the foot of the gaer in newport and if i am not mistaken coglewnt phil mentioned something about there being some ww2 activity there i think he said about it on this site.I also found a lead ARP badge in the same vacinity .Its the only wartime relic i have found so i would not like to sell it sorry!And also i think it could be a cufflink chef looking at the back its hollow and could very well be one excellent thought !

Yes al i think the chef might of cracked it with that guess probably brought over by british soldier.to think it was worn by a german soldier so long ago blows my mind
