An early start saw myself, Gaven, Ianjohn and a not so well Roman Ray heading up the M4 for the return to our Hammie Fest farm
for round three,
And it came up trumps yet again with another four hammies this now brings the total 20 and we have only been on the first three fields   ... Fist blood going to me this time a the way of a Lizzy I Groat  closely followed by  Gav and a Henry V penny ( I think )...
Next it was  Ianjohn's turn with another Lizzy I, Then a shout of all shouts Ianjohn again this time a Bronze axe will done mate ( jammy git )  Wink Wink Wink Hammie Number four went to Gavin ( the man is on fire ) A good few Romans also came up and a Roman brooch for me ( One for the Chef ) The boys will post there own finds later... Berkshire next week with a return to Oxford the week after ... And we all hope Ray will be back on form ( Get well soon mate )

Well done all....I missed another good one Cry
Great find Phil. The fibula is an early Colchester type (Hattatt 1455) and dates to around the time of the conquest but is known of before, so is of British rather than Roman origin and so could be classed as Iron Age Wink

And here's one in all it's glory....
DENO-417056" style="float:right;<acronym title="The Portable Antiquities Scheme">PAS</acronym> record number: DENO-417056

Object type: Brooch

Broadperiod: Roman

County of discovery: Nottinghamshire

Nice stuff - that Durham penny seems really quite nice.

I think I might have founda  similar fibula on the weekend myself, but without the suspension loop - and to think I almost winged it Smiley
