Got myself an XP Deus now  Smiley Got a half day off tomorrow afternoon so going to take it for it's first test drive on one of my local permissions. Had some good finds off these fields but looking forward to seeing what the Deus can spot.

Manual advises starting out on Basic 2, will that be ok? Want to try out the depth on it if possible.

Started with the old arthritis in my hands so even swinging something as light as the AT Pro causes me some problems after being out all day, hopefully the Deus will help with that. I also wanted something wireless and something that I can fold down for when I travel with work around the UK, always try to grab a few hours on the local beach in the Summer evenings after work.

Best bit of kit on the market with out a doubt ! . The goldmaxx had a great reputation but the Deus has taken it to new level !  They don't call it the "hammie hoover " for nothing !

Don't worry about the depth Will.  Just get used to the tones and the controls at first, the rest will come later. I tend to use Gmp with tracking and sensitivity to suit the ground. See you at the weekend.

Minelab Explorer, Deus

« Reply #13 on: February 27, 2013, 09:59:41 PM »

Went with friends to Regtons a couple of months ago. They were buying a couple of Deus's. My partner and I ended up buying one each as well. i have been using the Explorer for twelve years but been struggling with the weight in recent years. Decided to get one to share the workload with the trusty Explorer. My partner was going through a lean time and getting a bit despondent so wanted to try something different as well. She had the Deus up and running within the week but mine remained in the box. That all changed though after our outing last Saturday.

About 3 years ago I had 4 hammered's in an afternoon on one of my favourite fields. It was then put to pasture for a couple of years but I could never seem to get on it when the grass was short. It was then ploughed and harrowed last year for maize. Because of the dry spell at the time it was still really lumpy when drilled. I got on it once but gave up because it was like walking on snooker balls. So last Saturday with the maize stubble well weathered we hit it again. An hour later Andrea (Salopgirl) was holding one of the nicest coins I have ever witnessed come out of the ground. Even my heart was pounding and I never found it. She had her first gold coin since taking up the hobby 12 years ago. She was lucky to be holding a stunning Henry V111 half sovereign (Southwark mint) in her hand. My Deus came out of the box that same night! I will try and post a picture on here once I can sort out a problem with my camera.
