Might be a silly question but...

When I see coins identified on this forum, quite often a Spink number is quoted. Presumably there is a database somewhere that has photos/description of coins and the relevant Spink number. Is this an online database or do you refer to a physical catalogue like the following;   Huh

http://www.24carat.co.uk/frame.php?url=bookreviewstandardcat2013.php

I'm thinking the catalogue might make a more useful Christmas present than socks or random bits of Chinese plastic c*** that's all Grin

Thanks..

every year, spink produce a book called coins of england. usually in the range of £20 to £30. You can pick up a good secondhand one, which is always good for reference.

have a word with Chef, who i know used to sell them.

Thanks Alan, so presumably when people on this forum quote Spink no. XXXX they have looked it up in one of these catalogues rather than some online database?

yes,

its well worth getting a copy as the coin sizes printed are actual sizes and help towards identification.
