Well the way I would justify it is that its my hobby, I love it and I could be spending it on Booze and cigarettes instead.

20 Lambert and butler a day@ £7.21 per pack  x 365 days a year = £2631.65

 Grin

Never let a smoker ask a detectorist to justify 'high priced machines'

1 x 50g golden virginia pack a week imported at £4.80
x 52 =£249 a year
7 years off the ciggies to buy a metal detector Shocked
health wise excellent ,comparison wise poppycock

Well I think price justification is relative to the amount of  money you can afford and when I say afford I mean "spare" and if it is spare then only the detectorist themselves need to justify it, but.....if you are taking money that would normally go towards something else regarding the family, just so you can go and wave a stick around in a field once a week then you may have a whole bunch of people who can ask.

Well as the guy says in that video the Etrac was a little better on tones than the 3030, so yes it's just a waterproof Etrac with a very expensive wetsuit on.
A customer who uses both the Etrac and CTX said after buying an Ultimate coil "If users new what this coil does to the Etrac, Minelab would loose sales on the CTX".

Smiley  a water proof etrac that is brilliant and dont forget gps color screen much more than the Etrac and if it does rain you dont have to worry about sending your machine to minelab  because the control box is dead so that is a big improvement . £1500 for a ctx3030 i think its a price i would buy one for second hand above that price go for a new one . Sure soon or later they wil be one around that price. hope you find one soon i am thinking  to save some cash for a ctx too .cheers.nap

You go for it Wayno  Wink Wink.... I have also seen them on the Bay £1000/£1500ish so I don't think you will  be that far out .... My dear wife put my E-trac outside while cleaning under the stairs 3 days later and a lot of rain .... Well lets just say I wish that it was waterproof  Shocked Shocked ... if you buy a secondhand machine, and find you don't like it, you won't loose money  ..... Sell it and buy another E-trac   Wink Win Win........ to me its a no brainer  Wink
