First off I would like to thank Mark for arranging this dig. thumbs up
Saturday was an early start with Ian(Boozer) picking me up at 4.30am.
Being the passenger allows me to be DJ Davies, so we had AC/DC rocking through Shropshire,West Midlands,Warwicks,Northants,Cambs and finally Essex,we've called this for many years - County Bashing!
As we've done this route on many occasion so we knew its 2 hours to A14 Services near Kettering, this is our regular stop as there's a Mackie D's there!Happy Days!
We finally arrived at Thaxted at round 8.15am.
Boozer kicked my backside on the Saturday, had two stunning hammered, an Edward Half Groat and a Henry III Voided Penny.
There were loads of signals, but there was no hammered for me until 4pm, this was a tatty Sov type Henry VIII penny.
I aslo had a Viccy One Penny which was made into a ring, dated 1896 and a open type early Thimble.
In the evening,we met up with Mark and Dave Phillips for a few beers and a bite to eat, a great social evening was had by all.
On day two we decided to give a couple of the other fields ago, but we both had nothing worth mentioning, so we went back on the field we were on the day before.I had a small section of a Lizzy Sixpence, Eddie Halfpenny and a Cut Quarter.
On the field closest to the cars I had a Lizzy Sixpence, which was slightly bent but should straighten up, this was my last signal of the day.
Roll on the next two dayer.
