sorry, I'll stop posting soon!

Managed to find one second-hand (looks like it's never been used) for £130. From reviews this appears to be a good beach detector, so I figured go with it and see what happens - worst case scenario, I sell it and buy something else.

Has anyone got one, and if so, any recomendations for settings for Aberavon or Porthcaw beaches? Not going to be able to get out there until at least a week Saturday though  Sad

I bought one a few months ago and to be honest I've only used it once. It seems like a good deep seeking detector but be prepared to dig a lot as there is no discrimination as such.

As for settings, I keep the frequency at around 3.0 in the green area. Adjust the threshold to suit, make sure that's in the green as well. Hope you make some nice finds with it, you only need one decent ring and it's paid for itself  Smiley

I will be giving mine another beach outing this Wednesday, so fingers crossed.

Thanks Nick - would be interested to see how that goes. Saw some videos on You-tube of one working - don't mind doing a lot of digging!

Just made a plastic sand scoop out of an old petrol can (unused) I had knocking about and looking forward to trying that out as much as the detector

The scoop will be OK on dry sand but you will need a decent spade to search the wet sand.

Pi detectors excel on wet or dry sand, a lot of detectors will "complain" when you try searching wet sand.
Try the low tide marks, that's usually where the goodies are.
