After a camera and photoshop session, I managed to do this montage of the legend on a James II halfcrown 1688

"Decus et Tutamen" = "an ornament and a safeguard"  designed, of course, to reduce the likelihood of clipping or filing of the coin;  Anno Regni refers to the number of years that the monarch has reigned for,
