Hi guys, not been posting on here for a while but I have been logging in almost daily to see what's happening. Hope your all doing well.

Found this little item a couple of days ago on one of my fields. An Eyes only find. Sorry about the poor quality photo, but there isn't really much to show. Just a small ring of stone. No detail at all.

If anyone could help me ID it I would be most grateful.

Cheers

Jon

Interesting little find Jon.You did well spotting it. Wink
Have you given it a scrub to see if the colour changes. I'd say it's pre history, there's lots of it around here though most has been ploughed away.
Will look good in the collection with the fossils. Grin

Val

p.s. I've found another of those round copper disks.!!!!

Hi Val,

I was thinking it might be pre history. Hard to find examples online though. Hopefully someone will be able to tell me what exactly it is.

Have you found out what that copper disk is yet?

I also found this if anyone has any ideas?

No, haven't  I.D'd the disk Jon.  Showed it to a couple of Farmers and they've never seen anything similar and have as much idea as us.
Latest one was so green I thought it was painted when it came up. Like the others there are signs of the back being filled with lime mortar.

Jon, I've found a reference to stone bead making at Nabs Head. See link.

Dont bin your old odd fittings, i put mine on ebay as mixed architectural salvage occassionally, furniture restorers like original fittings for either patterns or use on jobs

Cheers for the replies guys! Still none the wiser on the stone bead mind? Not sure if it would be old or modern?
