We're constantly being bombarded by companies telling us they can reclaim Payment Protection Insurance on our behalf. What are members' experiences with reclaiming PPI? Did you have any luck doing it through a reclaim company? Did you do it yourself? Did you finance your new detector with reclaimed PPI?

From what I have heard , It is a straight forward process to do it yourself.
PPI reclaim companies can take up to 40% of your claim in charges , (According to Radio 4's money box program, not known for giving bad advice)
Dont be fooled when reclaimers say you cant do it yourself   - this is a lie and illegal-
If in doubt, a quick trip to Citizens advice will tell you the procedure and most likely have the correct forms and even help you fill them in.
I get hacked off (polite way of putting it) with all the texts etc telling me I have X thousands of pounds to claim. this is complete cr*p as I havnt had a loan or mortgage in the last 20 years.

We done it or I should say Lisa done it but she is good at things like this, I know she went through every paper in the house and contacted anyone that looked as if we did pay it too. She told them she wanted a breakdown on the payments (not sure but think they had 6 weeks from first contact to respond). Through them all we had 9 grand back. I know she said its dead easy to do and the companies that are phoning up to reclaim PPI are rip offs.
