Hi, had a quick hour or two on a field that Charlieboy and myself thought we had done to death, but it keeps throwing coins at us especially with our new sovereignGT's.
Among the usual pennies and half pennies, I had a 1941 shilling, 1933 half crown, nice silver chain and this which is rather intriguing. Huh
Its quite thin, oddly shaped and slightly smaller than a modern 5p. The reverse side has nothing viewable.
Sure someone can tell me exactlly what it is.
Cheers
Nick

Hi, I am quite chuffed that it could be Roman. It was such an insignificant piece of metal that came came out of the hole I could have so easily scrapped it into my junk pocket and binned it once home. Shocked
It still doesn't look much in my hand now its so small, much better in the photo with a bit of directional lighting. Grin

Hi, sorry to bring this one up again but I am emailing pics and find details to my 'not so' local FLO and thought I'd include this if I can get some more detail about it.
Cheers

Hi Nick,

Sorry I can't help you with the id. However, please send this one and any others through to your FLO no matter how little information you may or may not already know about it. Sam Moorhead of the British museum has specifically requested that metal detectorists send in their Grots,, no matter how grotty, for recording. The PAS will, with his and many other experts help, identify them for us and record them accordingly.
