I know I didn't get on with my SE and should't be thinking of another BBS machine to drive me mad with annoying target sounds but I've come to the point where this will be my last detector purchase for a while and want something that will see me through at least 2 years. Have been offered Whites machines, T2's, Safari's, Tesoro's and a C.Scope all cracking machines no doubt.

The one I've been offered has the addition of a digital display which I like. Must make the right choice as this one comes in at £450.

Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? XS-2aPro £450? yes, thought is "far too much money" Shocked Digital display isn't much use on the Sovs, it will only tell you what it's not, not what it is. £375 is about the top price.

But as to recommendations, then yes I rate the XS-2 very highly, no difference in depth between it and the new GT model and is the best machine for beaches and hits very deep on pasture. They do like ox shoes though (a strange trait of the Sovs) Grin But as they are practically always older than 1820, I always enjoyed finding them.

You can get an Elite for that money or for another hundred you can get the new GT second-hand.

That's true or the DFX like you suggested sometime back. I don't know the guy that well he's more of a friends friend and well minted, spotted a Deus, Spectra and the Etrac all unused in his living room. Just likes to flaunt it about and a greedy fecker to boot...  Roll Eyes

I had one that I tried to sell on ebay.

with the digital meter, started at £300 and had to list it 5 times before someone bought it.

£450 is 50% over the asking price I would say.
