Trying to classify this weeks stuff ready for recording and I've managed to get myself confused again (nothing new there then, in fact its becoming quite a habit Cheesy)

The Lizzie tanner from wednesday is plainly 1585. So Sixth issue and, also going by the date; Spink 2578A or B.

According to Spink, the mintmarks for the coins in this daterange are:
Spink 2578A: mm 60-72b, Bell/A/Escallop/Crescent/Hand
Spink 2578B: mm 72b-0, Hand/Tun/Woolpack/Key/Anchor/0

But:

Looks more like a Sun to me, but Lizzle doesn't appear to have used that one.

Can anyone point out where I'm going wrong here please.

I would say it's an escallop but unfortunately the top has been clipped.

Got it!, thanks Geoff. The mintmark image in my Spinks doesn't show the "fingers" clearly, but looking at other examples I'd say you're spot on.
