Was out metal detecting today and found this lead token with the following lettering " 2 CARTS J.D." on one side and on the other "...CHGELLY " The missing letters on the second side are LOCHGELLY. It took a few of us on the DS forum a wee while before we were able to work out what I had found. Its a Coal Merchants token made of lead. In this particular case the coal mechant operated out of Lochgelly, his initials were J.D. and he was delivering two horse driven cart loads of coal back in the good old days Wink

. Token was found about 6/7 miles outside Lochgelly near Kinross, so a nice wee story learned after making this recovery..
