Always wanted to go detecting on that part of the country, much more human population/activity there in the past, although the issue of stubble should be discussed beforehand. Stubble is sometimes sparse and floppy and you can get your coil close to the ground, i attended a rally before where there was rigid stubble close together about 10 inches high!, Impossible to detect on, i suppose it depends on type of crop and time of the year, trying to sweep your coil through stiff stubble is not much fun and you are losing so much depth.

I'm interested if it's a two dayer, it's an awesome area.

Good to see a good response to Robs question. Rob works overtime looking for rally land and most of you are wise enough to know the potential of this area far outweighs any distance issues. For many this if it comes off may be the only detecting in what is seen by most as the best area in the UK for detecting and finds of any period. A two day rally makes sense with the distance to travel and Rob will do the best he can to make sure the rally if it comes off will be a trip to remember. Thanks Rob and I hope you get the right result.
