Well he's definitely not hacking it, that is just bringing up the locked technical screen which gives more precise readings for calibrating the Etrac on a bench, rather than the 1-25 visible to the user. But without having all the right equipment and software you can't alter them. All the Explorers have them too.

Yes but not in any figures that we would understand and none that can be altered.

Well it's going too Huh Your not using it on a tech bench.
Ahh just realised I didn't make it explain, when they calibrate these machine they don't use a coil. The machine is plugged into a computer that feeds the machine with  preset data, the machines is then calibrated to this.

Lol well probably if you offered Minelab about 20K lol. I think the equipment is a little more involved than plugging it in to your PC

My mate has reprogrammed his ET to be more tuned to gold and small items like earrings.

He mentioned about inserting a chip and also altering the software. He's an electronics exepert so it
all goes over my head!

He did shave some weight off by using LiPo batteries but as they were cheap chinese copies, they swelled
after 5 charges and he had to revert back to the heavy Minelab ones.

It seems Minelab stuck with old battery technology to save money as they then did not have to re-engineer
the casing.
