As mnay of you know, i do a lot of public speaking and at an event last night the invited audience were asked to bring along artefacts found in their gardens. apart from a
george 3 1818 crown
a george 4th 6d,
2 viccy silver threepences, and
a tin cup celebrating a national event  in 1837  [look it up!!! Grin]

this military badge turned up. The owner is a lovely old lady in her 80's and would love to know a bit more about it. can anyone help, re date etc

What size is it Alan, I'm presuming small as it's missing the name that is usually on the cap and looks to be a collar badge and I would hazard a guess at WW 1.

But as I also said it is missing its scroll....OR....It is the Glengarry pattern 1881 badge. But I need dimensions please. Plus a photo of the back! I think it may be early but I need to know the size please."
"Where did it come from roughly? South Wales? If you can let me know I'll check my records and see when this fusilier regiment was in the area.

update on the badge, from my colleague. photo reverse attached

3 inches tall and is 1 5/8th inches wide. Someone has had a scratch at the metal on the back it does look very faintly like brass although the surface is more bronze like.

update off Jonola ....................

" Definitely the post 1881 Glengarry cap badge. White vineger for two hours and then clean with toothbrush and washing up liquid. It will show the original brass and come up well."
