Hi Doc
This Is not metal but i found it with an old penny (same hole) on the beach. It measures 30mm wide 12mm high. made of clay?

That is so annoying as I'm sure I've seen one before related to pottery firing, but I'll be damned if I can find one now. It may be worth showing it to the FLO just in case.

It looks like a kiln seperator, a piece of kiln furniture used to keep plates from the edge of the kiln when firing. made of high refractory clay so it doesnt react with the clay of the plate being fired. This is a picture of modern versions:

No probs. This is the type of article that gives small knobbles in the base of glazed pots after firing.
