got an invite to the swansea clubs charity dig in the vale today , not a lot found but thats another story .

anyway at the start the organiser told everyoe in no uncertain terms to fill ALL  your holes in ( the areas were all pasture) or you WILL be asked to leave , never to return again .

never seen a unfilled hole all day  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

seemed to work a treat today , maybe the DW admin should think of laying the law down a bit on future rallies .

Important to fill back holes - one has to think of the organisers as well as the fact that a return visit may be worth the effort.  Been on several digs and noticed that not only holes have not been filled up but the discarded object has been left just lying by the hole!  Not good enough !!!
Take the trash away and fill the holes.  Leave the site as it was found and it gives us all a fair chance that we'll be invited back  Cool

Many similar posts but things persist.

Rubbish bags should be compulsory on a rally. No bag - No detect.

I'm not the organiser so it may never happen.  Tongue

on every rally i have attended i have always seen bits of iron left at holes and a lot of unfilled holes, everyone should take their rubish away thats just plain decency and common sense.some people are knobs

I know of 'other sites' that have been a lot more proactive in their attempts to stamp out this behaviour , even to the point of having spotters spying on members in the field. Sorry but its too much I dont see why we should have The Turf Police spying on our members.

We're all meant to be adults and as such we should be able to trust all dw members to take rubbish away and fill holes properly. Even on stubble fields. That said any member or moderator that see's another detectorist blatantly leaving rubbish in or around holes , or kicking a turf upside down into a hole. Come and tell myself, Neil, Proconsul or any moderator and that member will be asked to leave Permanently.

loads of holes left on last rally even on short stubble doesnt take a lot of effort to push the soil back in with your wellies  Sad
