The Welsh are the Worlds most famous pirates - a lot of it has to do with the extradition after the Second English Civil War of Welsh noble man and middle ranks to the Caribbean! I know that 600 from the battle of St Fagans in 1648 (a stones throw from where I live} were sent there.

I was in Antigua in 96 for a few weeks and ever person I met was a local Jones, Williams, Evans, Griffiths, etc . . .

And then there was John Callis (pirate) DHowell Davis {pirate}, Robert Edwards (pirate) John Evans (pirate), Piers Griffith {pirate}, Henry Morgan {Cardiff based pirate you'll all know!}, Bartholomew  etc

Gr8 link Neil, dont know many pirates myself although I have met a few sharks in Cardiff. You didnt come across a 'Coburn' in Antigua did you? LOL Grin
