Cardiff Scan Club's Finds of the Month are now in Scan Club Gallery here:

http://www.cardiffscanclub.co.uk/gallery/album81

Well done all, in particular Alun, although why our members voted his Lizzy sixpence (nice though it is) before Stan's superb Edward IV groat and Neil's lovely Edward the Confessor I will never know.

A similar thing happened in March 2007, when Tom's Lizzie sixpence was placed first ahead of Maxine's cracking Henry I penny:

How a coin of Edward the Confessor can end up 3rd is beyond me as well mick.

Judges, hang your heads in shame.
The Edward Confessor coin should be in the running for coin of the year, never mind coin of the month.

You will be hanging about Fifty people( by that, i mean in shame).Thats the amount of people who chosed to vote for the catergarys for finds of the Month.
I must say this system is flawd as faveritizm can pervail.
Some clubs use Mark Lodwick as Judge and Jury this i think is the way it sould go, as some voters dont no there CONFESSORS to there CONTESSERS.
Sould have won,(Confessor i mean.) Wink

Listen i`m not in the club so it makes no odds to me who gets where & i know "rarity" should be considered but "condition" is also a point to factor in. As human beings ":Looks" is important in our psycie & perhaps this was the deciding factor for those who judged !  Wink

Yes - bring them to the club meeting. You can enter one find in each of the following categories:

Pre-1700 Coin
Pre-1700 Artefact
Post-1700 Coin
Post-1700 Artefact
Beach Find

Finds need to have been made by yourself in the month since the last meeting.

I should explain that the judges are all  the members of the club present at the meeting, who each have one vote in each section.

On the whole, the system works relatively well, but occasionally results like this appear. Many factors influence the vote as stated by several of the posters above.

That Edward the Confessor Penny is a find of a lifetime. Well done the finder and you get my vote every time. Seals not half bad either.
