                                                         Saturday
                                                                      New Farm
went with Melonhead to a new farm we had permission to detect on near Newport which as 200 acres of land, when we got there spoke to the farmer and he told us which fields we could go on , we started on the closest bit of land and my first signal was a silver 1945 sixpence not a bad stat for the day, weather was a bit cloudy but dry and quit mild in the morning,we went on finding bits and bobs bits of lead few tubes ,i did after about hour and a half got a iffy signal and dug it and found a brass ring a small child's ring i think with a nice patton on it i called over Melonhead to have a look but within a few minutes the ring just broke into bits in my fingers could not believe it .i also found a thing in the shape of a Paw !! could be of a furniture fitment not sure tho. we did try another field but not a lot came up , we went back into the first field after lunch and in about half hour a beaming smiling Melonhead came over with a very nice silver half crown from of George 5th 1923, we did pack up early as the rain came in heavy, the funny thing of the day was that we both found silver but never found one copper coin !.its a new farm for us and we will be going back in a few weeks time, will keep you updated. Wink

                                                            Sunday
                                                                       Old Farm
Sunday morning went out again with Melonhead to one of our old local farms did not get there until about 11am as it was raining heavy before that, when we got to the farm the rain had stopped Melonhead and i decided to go on a field that we had done a bit of before that had turned up 2 industrial one pennies that we had one each on the last visit there, straight away we were digging up old pennies but as before there they were in a bad condition we were digging up more buttons and the George 3rd pennies and Vicky pennies, i did dig up a George 3rd cartwheel, also a old buckle.i went across to another bit of ground there that is pasture as the first field is that we have done before and started on that and Melonhead stayed in the first field, after a while and not getting any signals at all i made the way back over to the first field and got a nice signal and started to dig it and looking into the hole i had dug could see a hint of silver shining at me could only make out the end of the coin,so for the first time ever i have done this called Melonhead to come and have a look to see what i was going to pull out of the ground ,he came over all excited and i think he was more excited than i was , he took a look and said "could be a florin "and i let him pull it out and he was correct it was a Gothic Florin , that's the second one ever iv found,i was over the moon by this time as i love Vicky silver anyway,we both had a good look at it and then Melonhead said " i hope you are going to detect around that hole " and as i did start to do as he said another nice signal Melonhead was more excited again and said " got to be more silver Kev " i let Melonhead dig this hole and yes it was silver a Vicky shilling and straight away another signal in the same hole i had a Vicky sixpence Melonhead was more excited again more than myself Grin it was a very nice feeling to get a Vicky ha-trick of silver, the thing is i forgot my camera as i would of taken a photo of the silver in the ground's as we all love the clod shots. it was nice that Melonhead and i both witnessed this hat-trick of silver and a pleasure of finding the three silvers and the excitement we had on digging in that moment ,what would we have been like if it was a large hoard  Grin at the end of the day it may have been only three silver Vicky's but that's what and why we love this hobby. Wink
