found today down the vale on the swansea rally by GRIFFMEISTER amazing find , made of what looks like bronze with gold looking guilding all over and very heavy , a truely superb item well done mark , and he's only been detecting 2 months  Shocked Shocked

maybe roman , celtic any ideas anyone

Didnt see it up close to be honest I got side tracked and forgot .Great days detecting really enjoyed it.I left with a part of a Bronze age axehead a mangled up georgian silver spoon and a henry 111 hammered coin that doesnt seem to be in the spinks book?Crown looks different on the coin compared to the ones in the book?

Jesus - that looks a tad special. Any chance of seeing the back of it and do you know if its been cleaned at all as the feet and higher bits are shiny!

A lovely find - its not a million miles away from this image I just Googled up of a modern reproduction of a Greek horse for sale.

The head certainly looks more styalized in a Greek form than Roman or Celtic to me. If it is Greek - you are writing part of Welsh history - get ready for some fame! Smiley

Amazing find - would have loved to have seen his face when that came out! I bet he was beaming from ear to ear! Smiley
