Just a thought here but what does everybody think of adding members general home location to the visual info we display on our postings.
Might help people to plan events or when selling and so on. The fact that its just a general location should not in any way compromise anybody.

On a similar note. Perhaps a (voluntary) list of people with professional skills that are prepared to help other member out? For example, I'm a Professional Photographer and I'm
willing to help anybody who might need my services 'no weddings' but am certainly available to give chats or lectures on the subject. Perhaps someone needs some hands on tuition?
That type of thing.
What brought this to mind is I currently need a carpenter to build me a (proper) bookcase. Was just wondering if there's any member close to where I live in the Swansea Valley, who'd
be able to call in and take measurements and do the job. Rather pay someone I know personally.

(when I say proper) I mean dovetail joints.

I have actually photographed one of these. The Estates Department in the University I worked for came to me with the idea. I agreed to photograph them all in the muffty for a calendar
supporting a local children's cancer ward. I believe it eventually made around the 13K mark.
Did put me off my food for a while mind you.  Cheesy

Good ideas Mike - We did a post regarding what everyone does for a living and what services they could offer to members a couple of years ago, but I can't find it now. Normally if you need a job doing, just ask on here and someone will be able to do it - I now we have chipies, plasterers, brickies, mechanics, etc on here.

With the area you are from idea, I know some people on the web like to stay relatively anonymous - hence all the usernames instead of real names. As its an open forum and anyone can access the site, I don't think it would be too wise.

If members want to add their location as part of their posting layout, they are welcome to.

Good ideas though - keep them coming
Cheers
Neil

Like the location idea Mike. I Always find it interesting on other forums I use to see where the person is from.

Think I will add my location under my avatar .

A member can add their home location under profile, along with age and e-mail address.

It'd be any easy thing for Admin t add a line for occupation.

Some members fill out all the details but many are shy.
