There is a school of though that a detector performs best when it is using  fewer filters as possible and is
used with Zero Discrimination or in All Metal.

However, setting the Deus Discrim to 0 will slow you down somewhat as you will be getting  audio on
small iron.

The Notch facility on the Deus knocks out the audio pertaining to the respective target detected. The following
program utilises this and, as a result, will help give you that extra bit of depth.

You will still get iron tones over the larger iron even with Iron volume OFF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Search Frequency:  18khz
Discrim:                     0
Sensitiivity                 90
Recovery Speed:      3
Iron Volume:              OFF
Silencer:                    0
Audio Reactivity:        5
Ground Tracking        (manual if preferred)
TX                              2  (or 3 if stable)
Notch (main)              0 to 6
Notch in Expert          (25 to 27 to avoid coke/rock if required)
Use factory set 3 tone threshold settings

Advice:  Go by the audio and not VDI numbers..........try leaving the control unit in your pocket. Good targets
near iron can have the VDI 'dragged down' but give good audio, but another VDI at 90 degrees.

I have tested this prgram and it seems to work well.
Any feedback, good or bad, welcome.

The small coil is all you really need. The large is handy for coverage on pasture and that bit of extra depth.

So you ignore the two low tones and dig the high and medium ones ?

The tone settings are left in the factory presets which uses just 3 tones.

I'll put it on the settings page.

The recovery speeds work better the higher the frequency.

I just checked and see that I did put that it was 3 tones, factory settings!!!!! In your excitement you
missed it!  Grin

I think it's also important to  point out that this is not an ALL-METAL program. It is an alternative to discriminating out small iron other than using the Deus' discrimination setting in order to take advantage of the possible extra depth.

For a program to be an ALL-METAL mode; discrimination must be off, iron volume on, and no notching.

One downside with the settings is that the horseshoe display would appear to use the discrimination setting as its trigger for the left/right indication of ferrous/non-ferrous signals. The new settings that have been discussed on the 'other forum' this week negate this completely with all signals showing in the right-hand segment (with or without audio from the notch selection). But don't forget that deeper, (at the limit of the range), targets tend to present similar signatures to iron regardless of their actual composition.

Shaun

This program doesn't touch the tone settings. It is purely notching out the audio for small iron
i.e.    0 to 6                 and      coke at 25/26 (if desired)

It is unconnected with the Australian guys program discussed elsewhere.

Even though the Iron Volume is OFF you will still hear the buzz of iron.

It's as stated, a 'useable' all metal program...........it's in all metal but you aren't hearing the ground
minerals and small iron!

I thought we were on different tracks..........

It shouldn't be a loss of depth as the Discrim is at 0 and it's only the audio 0-6 that is notched out. Don't
touch the tone thresholds.

Iron sounds become grunty but you are not constantly stopping to check the good audio you will get on
small iron if Discrim is at 0.
