Found this ring this morning but can't for the life of me clean it well enough to see the hallmarks clearly. Any ideas on what else to do. I've tried just about everything.

Have you tried bicarbonate of soda and aluminium foil in hot water?

Then I would try a little more electrolysis, as long as you keep an eye on it, Brasso is far more destructive than gentle electrolysis.
The only other thing I can think of is using some silver dip.

best i can do with it. I should have taken a before pic but i forgot. This ring was totally green with that stuff that is usually on coppers. I will take it to the club meeting next week and see if anyone can make out the hallmarks

Hi Joel
I think you'll find it' a 'Travellers' ring and not of English make. I've got one very similar, bought off a man who knows a man, sort of thing. Mine is prob. 9ct gold and very heavy, would make a good knuckle duster if it still fitted. Grin

Thanks Val. It weights in at 8 grams so quite heavy. Who rver had it must of had really small hands as it only just fits my little finger

Joel, is yours gold ? The gold ones are Gipsy wedding rings (female) so it would have been small.
I had to stop wearing mine as it got tight and was giving me a corn  Shocked on the palm of my hand just beneath the ring finger.
