I have been kindly offered the loan of A Rutus Jupiter by the manufacturer. Chef and myself are going to put it through its paces hopefully at button moon and I've no doubt Chef will pass on his expert Judgement on this machine.

As long as I receive it back in time, I will bring it to the Next Detecting Wales Rally. Anyone interested in testing it for a short time at the rally, please let me know.

As Taff has said I'll be doing a short test report when I've had a chance to put it through it's paces on both pasture and plough. From the brief use I've had of the machine it is......interesting Roll Eyes.
When I get back I plan too grid an area of plough that is 100 sq meters with the Explorer, this is an area that last year produced both Roman coins and brooches then follow this with the Rutus.
I'll then be be setting out another area of the same size but this time on land that has not, at least by me, been detected and gridding first with the Rutus and then with the Explorer, we'll also be putting it through it's paces on some fields that many machines just can't hunt due to the natural iron content of the geology.
Tough tests but hopefully this will allow me to find where in the armoury this machine should sit Wink

If there is time, can I have a go. If I find a hammered with it, there will be a V3i in mikethefob's bin Smiley Looks like a kind of Whites "clone" to me. My opinion open.

Thats what I thought to be honest, very much like the Whites models. Was speaking to Laura from Detecnicks and its fantastic around Iron. If I  like it on the test I'm going to try my best to get one. I'll be going straight on the phone to Laura to sort one out for me.

[rutus jupiter] it's a great machine as some of you will find out in the near future and it's ability to winkle out those non ferrous item's out of iron infested area's is amazing.

All,
Just seen the vid on youtube, the one thing that looks very interesting for those fortunate enough to review @3:10 you have what is called combined mode, I don't know what it is yet on this machine, but I hope its the same thing on the V3i as "stereo mixed mode" which is the best thing I have ever had on a detector. One ear is all metal and the other is discriminate, and it picks up everything, you chose to dig it up or not(no problems with recovery delay).
Personally I think the Whites machines are a little difficult to come to terms with, but as good as anything when you understand them. The Rutus seems a good compromise between novice and advanced detectors, I can't wait to try it out. Mind still wide open and optimistic on this one.
