Ok We've had Favourite Bronze coin and Favourite Silver Coin - Lets take a break from coins and find out whats 'Your Precious'

What is your favourite artifact found by yourself. It hasnt got to be the Sutton Hoo Mask or The Holy Grail  just any artifact that you've found that is special to you in some way.

Go for it , lets get some different members answering as well, there must be some well saved artifacts out there amongst our members  Smiley

Yet again I'm sooooo predictable Cheesy But I've not bettered it yet. A spearhead from the beginning of the late Bronze Age 1450-900BC and one of only four of this type recorded in Wales.

This is my fav find by far.
2nd century roman brooch.

before cleaning

after cleaning.

Its my favourite because it was only my second roman brooch, and its condition after all those years
in the ground, and the skill involved all those years ago in the making of it, i found it on a freinds
farm {GLYNKID} who kindly invited a few club members out for a dig.

I think mine has got to be a Celtic Sword pommel, absolutely stunning condition, and shows what a Celtic warrior looked like with his  braided hair. Not a lot is known about  these people, and to find a face with hair style is fairly uncommon, as there is very little surviving evidence. The Pommel  has been on loan to the Corinium museum in Cirencester for the last 5 years.

Great thread guys with some lovely finds!

Mungo - I presume you know how rare and valuable a find that is? A similar one or possibly this one graced the cover of the Searcher a good few moons ago. Stunning find - well done!

Keep them coming
