after detecting our permission today , the farmer decided to attack me with his walking stick , he's pretty old but after explaining to him he gave us permission and few weeks ago he seemed fine , untill he saw us digging then boom he went crazy , shouting at us "i gave u permission to detect not to use a shovel and dig a hole" omg i was gobsmacked ...he went on and on " would you dig up you back lawn"  ermmmm how were we to dig it up? , he was shouting "ive never heard anything like it , you only dig a hole to bury something" this went on for about 5/10 min , finally i said "do you want me to leave the land" and of course he said "yes get off here now" ..............................well what a day huh ! lost 55 acres today not amused lol.

Ah. The price of being OLD.
A friend of mine had a similar expeirience with her Horses in a rented field. I had a phone call early one morniing from someone down the lane asking me if I knew who owned this and that horse as they were grazing loose on the villiage green.. Yes I recognised the description and said I phone thier owner, which I did. I met her down there and she explained she'd seen the field owner the previous night who'd ranted and raged at her for putting her horses on private land without permission and told if she didn't get them out immediately they'd be turned loose. Eventually she was placated but it seems not for long. It was obvious she was going down hill fast and some months later was put in a home.  Rather sad really when you think she was a Farmers wife and lived a very active life till she got old.
