Always expect the unexpected!

Went out for an hour today with RJM to a local hill farm.
In between dodging the showers we had a few nice finds including this 1904 sixpence, one of the rarest of sixpences down to a low mintage that year. Not going to make me rich but nice to find all the same.
Also came across this medal, 33mm in diameter and 10.1g. Think its some sort of commemorative issue by a drinks company maybe. If anyone has come across one I'd be interested to know.
After being on recent rallies to quality sites getting roman, medieval etc it takes a lot of incentive to get up to the way out farms, goes to show you never know what to expect, an enjoyable few hours. Smiley

Nice finds Ceri. The medallion is associated with the temperance movement 'Band of Hope', see here:

The banner held up by the figures reads: "BY DIVINE ASSISTANCE I WILL ABSTAIN FROM ALL INTOXICATING DRINKS"

I had an Victorian 1876 silver three pence, and a silver plated local Co-Op Large Loaf token.

Both in for specialist cleaning as we speak.  Grin
