I would say it was medieval, but i do not think its a posy ring,as it only seems to have a very short inscription



This looks a little like it

Circa 13th C Medieval gold posey ring with full Lombardic inscription and with the flower possibly representing the wound of Christ- working on the legend to dechiper it - Reported as treasure to Colchester museum 22.38mm O/dia x 1.64mm T , 2.77g

I think that's a hallmark rather than a posy-type inscription. Hard to make it out though because it's rather worn. What do you make of it Neil?
