Has anyone used a Teknetics Gamma 6000 , or know anything about the Teknetics Greek range, i've been offered one , and the missus would like to start detecting,
There doesn't seem to be a lot of info on this range in the UK

Mike if you had the gamma and the g2 you have the perfect setup, lower and higher frequency. You don't see many being used in the UK but other than the T2 that's true of the whole Tek range, more to do with "fisher were here first" rather than quality or performance.

Thanks both for the feedback, she fancies my G2 as its so lightweight, but i don't want to fork out for another one ....lol, so i took alook at the Greek range, i'll seriously consider it.
Geoff the G2 is awesome on the beach

They balance to salt Tyn, so I would think you would get some kind of performance. Smiley

OK, i'll try and clear this up , i don't know where you heard that the G2 was no good on the beach .

From my experience with it , i found it to be excellent and extremely stable, what you must remember is that the machine might need to be re-ground balanced if you start to get any falsing, this normally happens when you change sand texture , ie soft sand to hard , dry sand to wet, this only takes a few seconds and the detector returns to being stable , giving clear precise signals throughout the range , also i found that the pinpointing was more accurate on the beach

As a foot note , the more often you pinpoint , you will find the machine start to false, so you just re- ground balance,

Spend a couple of  hours on Brean beach last weekend, and this is a terrible beach for detecting, i just wanted to assess the machine , and i came away with a total of 127 coins 87 were in the same hole mind , mostly pennys 20p and 5p coins although , the machine gave out a distinctive singnal on the 5 £1 coins i found, and a working ladies watch still telling the correct time. ok all modern but all the same , i was impressed, so was my mate with his ACE 250.

My mate has The Tekneticks Omega 8000 with T2 coil (uses 8khz search freq) and he's had all sorts of finds
with it including cut halfs.

It looks similar to G2 with easy to set control and lovely large screen readable even in bright sunlight.

The designer of many of Tecknetics range rates it as his favourite machine. You don't see many about
as many jump on the G2/T2 bandwagon.

Personally I'd buy a cheap second hand Sovereign or similar for the beach.

Totally agree about the sovereign , but beach work is not my main goal, so i'll stick wit the Teknetics , more for the weight , for the missus
