No Monarch Coin

Hi Doc,
          Found this in one of my fields.It measures 29mm across and weighs 7.5g approx.
 There is a thick raised edge with a seated Britannia on the obv.with a laurel leaf pattern around it.The rev.shows a standing lion facing left and the date is fairly clear at 1816 I believe and is made of bronze. The word penny can be made out on the edge with either a E or an F before it.Taking it as a halfpenny would put it in the gap between a George III 1807 and a George IV 1825 according to my book.
 Was there some sort of Commemorative coin in this gap? why no monarch? Any further information would be appreciated.Thanx..

With the date of 1816 i believe you`ll find it`s a Trade Token.Penny & halfpennies were struck throughout the period due to the very limited amount of Royal coinage issued.

Thanks MetalMickey, I appreciate the info.Will certainly bear it in mind.Was found at an old piggery site so a trade token seems feasable.
