popped down for a few hours this afternoon, alot of sand back on now so was pretty hard going. managed to winkle this   out.any ideas what it is??? i thought it might be a cover for a letter opener, but not sure.its hallmarked.

Jassy could it be half of a bracelet. the small loop holding the retaining chain with the hinge missing ? the notch or sideways "V" looks as if a clip rested in it to keep it closed.

Yes I think it is part of a hollow silver bangle. I had one the same, with the same scrolling on it. Mine was 60's or there abouts.
