 I went detecting yesterday on a farm near me.i picked this field as it had a slightly more moisture content than the surrounding fields.as it was below the water table.i set the detector up and it went absolutely berserk.saying no coil.id numbers was all over the place.tried dropping the power.sensitivity level.frequency.to no avail.then i noticed a telephone mast.just showing behind some trees.the mast was about a quarter of a mile away.from where i was.so i am assuming this was the reason.nice to have complete wireless.but it seems it as its down falls.looks like I'm going to have to use T2 from now on this field.anyone else had this problem.

I have had this problem................. but not with the Deus!

Can only suggest you turn it off and back on again to reset.

I've detected under pylons, near telephones masts etc and never had a problem with the Deus.

I've also never had any problems with masts or pylons.To go that berserk I wonder whether it could be a moisture problem perhaps?I hope you get it sorted ok fella.Maybe a call to Regton could shed some light on it.Good luck with it and keep us posted

Mark I know this may sound stupid but what is the geology there? I think your at the other end of the Mendips to me so I'm not sure. If Lias is the bed rock and has been disturbed in the last couple of years then that could be your problem. I know it's a long shot but

Maybe an electric fence.  Went on a rally a few weeks ago and nearly all makes of machine were affected - most of us wandered out of that field

Same problem as Debbie mentioned.
On both occasions to the same field had interferance with the Deus.
Noticed electric fence most of the way round.
Farmer told me to be careful as it was directly connected to the mains.
Also once out of the area the interferance subsided.
I have had no other problems with pylons etc..etc

I'm sure Mark would no if it was an electric fence as that is a pulse interference and effects ALL machines. The symptom's he's describing seam to be constant rather than pulsed.

Had a recent problem which may be similar. I was on a new site and had started off in a different part of the field than previously. I switched on the T2 and it gave out all sorts of signals with the numbers coming up very random making the machine unusable. I switched off and started again. Same thing happened, tried ground balancing etc without any effect.

I decided that it was a machine problem and went off to get my Explorer. Returned to the same area and found the same was happening to the Explorer but not as bad. I then moved a few yards away and the problem resolved itself. Realising it was a site issue rather than the machine, I was able to work out it was over an area a few metres wide and running the length of the field. It has to be an underground cable of some sort. At the top of the field there are a couple of newish houses so the cabling, I assume was laid to service them.

I have been back a few times with both machines and i can work the site if I stay away from that area. Might be a similar problem here? Wet ground would of course exacerbate the problem.

Hi guys.Thanks for your replies.not had chance to get back out there to try the Deus again.could be a cable.of some kind.i did mention that to the farmer.he did not think there was one.yes Geoff.I'm from tuther end of the mynne deepes. the bedrock is marl.i think I'm no geologist.gynecologist maybe.

I had this sort of problem in a field sliced in half by an electric fence the other day. Anything up to 10 metres away, the Etrac was bouncing all over the place but in a regular timed pattern. As long as I stayed about 30 feet away, there was almost no problems. Occcasionally picked it up further away but the ground was pretty full of junk.

The only other probs with interference were when the coil cover was full of muddy water and it sloshed around the coil causing all kinds of chaos.

Never tried a Deus but they might have similar problems.
